Costa Rica's Ministry of Finance reports TICO Factura system failures

The Colegio de Contadores Públicos de Costa Rica has issued an alert regarding technical failures in ‘TICO Factura’, the free electronic invoicing system provided by the Ministry of Finance. The issues specifically involve the inability to generate PDF files for electronic invoices, which complicates the consultation, downloading, and documentation of issued receipts.

Francisco Ovares, president of the Colegio, advised taxpayers and accounting professionals to take preventive measures. He recommended that users conserve and back up the electronic files associated with their invoices, specifically the XML files, along with evidence of issuance and acceptance.

To avoid the creation of duplicate invoices, the Colegio advised taxpayers to verify the actual status of an electronic invoice before attempting to re-issue it, noting that the inability to generate a PDF does not necessarily mean the invoice was not successfully issued or accepted by the system.
