Costa Rica's PLN joins President Laura Fernández on Crucitas visit

The Partido Liberación Nacional (PLN) will send a delegation of four to five deputies to accompany President Laura Fernández on her field trip to Crucitas. The visit aims to address long‑standing security problems and the impacts of illegal gold mining in the northern border region.

PLN leadership, represented by Álvaro Ramos (also cited as Álvaro Ramírez), said the party intends to use the meeting to present an alternative proposal for exploiting the gold resource that they claim would protect the environment and respect national sovereignty. The exact list of legislators has not yet been finalized, but the party emphasized that the security of the territory must be resolved independently of any specific mining solution.
