Costa Teguise to host new specialty healthcare center
Costa Teguise will host a new Specialty Care Center (CAE) to expand public health services in Lanzarote and alleviate pressure on the Hospital Universitario Doctor José Molina Orosa.
Canarian Health Minister Esther Monzón announced that the government will lease a 1,460-square-meter property to serve as a complement to the existing university hospital. The facility will include an outpatient minor surgery operating room, three diagnostic radiology rooms, and approximately fifteen hospital specialty consultation rooms. Diagnostic services will feature conventional radiology, ultrasound, and mammography.
Monzón clarified that the project involves leasing a building rather than privatizing services, stating, “What is being leased is a building, not the provision of a service. No healthcare activity is being contracted or outsourced, as management, professionals, and activity will be entirely public.” The center will be managed by the Lanzarote Health Services Management and staffed by the Servicio Canario de la Salud.
