Costco abruptly shuts down Costco Next digital marketplace

Costco has abruptly discontinued Costco Next, a digital marketplace service that allowed members to purchase discounted products directly from vetted third-party suppliers and manufacturers. The service, which launched in 2017 and expanded significantly in recent years, functioned as a curated hub where vendors handled their own logistics, shipping, and customer support.

The shutdown occurred without prior official notice or a detailed public explanation from the retailer. On its customer support page, Costco stated, “Access to Costco Next storefronts is no longer available,” and advised members to contact specific vendors directly regarding warranties, returns, or cancellations. Listed vendors include brands such as Anker, Caraway, and Priority Bicycles.

The decision comes despite recent reports of growth for the platform. During a third-quarter fiscal 2025 earnings call, CFO Gary Millerchip noted that sales for the platform had shown healthy year-over-year growth, with volume in that single quarter matching the total sales recorded for the entire 2022 fiscal year.
