Costco partners with SCAN Group to launch Medicare plans

Costco Wholesale Corp. is expanding into the healthcare sector through a strategic partnership with SCAN Group, a nonprofit Medicare provider. The collaboration aims to offer Costco-branded Medicare Advantage plans and Medicare supplemental products to older adults.

Pending regulatory approval, the new offerings are expected to integrate healthcare services with Costco’s existing ecosystem, potentially including vision, hearing, prescription drugs, and over-the-counter medications. The initial rollout will be limited to Medicare Advantage plans in two states and a supplemental plan in a third state, targeting a combined market of approximately five million enrollees.

While the specific states and launch dates have not been disclosed due to regulatory limits, the plans will be available through Costco stores, insurance agents, and online channels. The partnership builds on an existing relationship where Costco serves as a preferred pharmacy and provider of optical and hearing services for SCAN members.
