Costume design details revealed for Apple TV's ‘Margo’s Got Money Troubles’

Costume designer Mirren Gordon-Crozier has detailed the visual storytelling used in the Apple TV series ‘Margo’s Got Money Troubles’. The series follows Margo, played by Elle Fanning, a college dropout navigating single parenthood by creating a retro-futuristic OnlyFans persona known as the ‘Hungry Ghost’.

To reflect the character's limited budget and amateur circumstances, the Hungry Ghost costume features a homemade aesthetic consisting of silver spandex, a clear vinyl miniskirt, and decorated chunky boots. The design includes kitsch elements, such as a cone-shaped bra, to add humor to the character's digital broadcasts. Margo's mentors, played by Rico Nasty and Lindsey Normington, wear pink lace bodysuits with bedazzled gun holsters and floor-length lasso-style braids.

Visual motifs also connect the generations of the family. Margo's mother, Shyanne (Michelle Pfeiffer), a former waitress, utilizes a wardrobe heavy in animal prints, while her father, Jinx (Nick Offerman), a former professional wrestler, is represented through the use of silver spandex in Margo's costume.
