Cosăuți–Iampol bridge to connect Moldova and Ukraine
The Cosăuți–Iampol bridge project, designed to connect Moldova and Ukraine over the Nistru River, will be constructed from stone and concrete to accommodate the area's rocky terrain. According to Vice-Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure Vladimir Bolea, the project involves a cost-sharing agreement where Ukraine covers the bridge construction while Moldova finances the supporting infrastructure on its side.
Currently, Ukraine is constructing a temporary technological bridge to facilitate progress while a permanent solution is finalized. Once the main bridge is operational, a new customs point will be established on Moldovan territory. Discussions are ongoing between the two nations regarding the implementation of customs controls within Moldova.
The total investment for the project is estimated at approximately 50 million euros. The Moldovan portion of the project includes a 26-kilometer access road that will bypass the village of Cosăuți.
