Cotas Juniors clinches South American futsal title after penalty shootout

Bolivian futsal club Cotas Juniors secured the 45th South American Indoor Soccer Championship (Zona Sur) by defeating Paraguay's Deportivo Atenas 2‑1 in a penalty shootout. The final was held at the Luis Oscar Giagni Miers sports hall of Club Sol de América in Asunción. The match featured contributions from Paraguayan captain Diego “Cachito” Melgarejo and Colombian forward Kevin Ariza, the tournament’s top scorer. This victory marks the second continental club title for a team from Santa Cruz, Bolivia, the first being CRE in 2006.

In the third‑place match, Paraguayan side 12 de Junio beat Uruguay’s San Miguel to claim the podium.
