Cotia City Council asserts independence through veto deliberations

The Cotia City Council is asserting its institutional independence through increased oversight and legislative action. The council recently achieved a unanimous vote to summon the mayor to provide clarifications before the plenary.

During its 26th Ordinary Session, led by President Professor Osmar, the council focused on deliberating seven vetoes imposed by the Executive branch. These vetoes affect several key areas, including inclusive education, public safety, transportation, animal protection, and commerce. Specific projects under review include the creation of an integrated center for inclusive basic education, regulations for bar operating hours, a mobile emergency alert system for missing children, and the ‘Pink Bus’ public transport program.
