Cotia residents seek mediation in housing dispute
Residents of Jardim Nossa Senhora da Graça in Cotia held a demonstration to defend their homes against potential displacement. The community is facing a housing conflict stemming from a judicial dispute involving an estate, which residents claim affects hundreds of families who have lived in the area for 40 to 50 years.
Councilman Alexandre Frota met with the protesters to facilitate a dialogue between the residents and the Cotia City Hall and the Housing Secretariat. The goal of the mediation is to seek a negotiated solution and provide legal guidance to families who fear losing their properties.
