Cotopaxi authorities intensify price and permit inspections

Authorities in Cotopaxi have intensified inspections across the province to prevent price speculation and ensure commercial compliance. Nemesis Bastidas, the General Police Intendant, reported that recent operations targeted large distributors, poultry farms, and small shops to monitor the price of eggs.

Inspections confirmed that the average price for a carton of eggs remains at 3.75 dollars, and authorities have urged citizens to report any unjustified price increases. Additionally, officials are monitoring the domestic gas market to ensure distributors clearly display official prices and comply with commercial regulations.

Beyond price monitoring, the Intendencia is conducting rigorous checks on business permits. Establishments found operating without a valid Annual Operating Permit may face closure. In the La Maná canton, permanent control operations are being maintained in coordination with the Armed Forces and National Police due to the current state of exception.
