Cotral launches driver bonus program and adds 15 train conductors in Lazio

Cotral has reached an agreement with the main transport unions in Lazio (Filt Cgil, Fit Cisl, Uiltrasporti, Ugl Autoferrotranvieri, Faisa Cisal and Fast Confsal) to introduce a new profit‑sharing bonus system for its bus drivers. The scheme can award up to €4,000 per driver per year based on measurable indicators such as service regularity, extra shifts, work on holidays and accident reduction, and includes a €400 semi‑annual continuity bonus and a €100 extra bonus for additional holiday shifts. The bonuses will be subject to a reduced 1 % substitute tax, allowing workers to retain more of the amount. "Questo accordo introduce in Cotral un principio già diffuso tra le migliori aziende private: condividere con i lavoratori i risultati della crescita," the agreement states.

Regional Transport and Mobility assessor Fabrizio Ghera praised Cotral’s completion of the hiring process for 15 new train conductors, describing it as a key step in the regional rail revitalisation plan. The new staff, together with ongoing maintenance, train revisions and the recent acquisition of a new Atac train, are intended to improve service efficiency for commuters on the Roma‑Lido and Roma‑Viterbo lines.
