Cotral to Transform Riello Terminal into Modern Mobility Hub in Viterbo
Cotral and the municipality of Viterbo have signed a protocol to invest about €3 million in the redevelopment of the Riello capolinea. The project will convert the existing terminal into a modern intermodal mobility hub for the city and the wider provincial area.
The upgraded facility will expand from roughly 14,450 sqm to about 15,580 sqm and will include a waiting hall, ticket office with infopoint, restrooms, staff rooms, a new methane fuel dispenser, bike‑sharing infrastructure and dedicated parking for long‑stay buses and personnel. Public‑space improvements will feature new lighting, a CCTV network and public Wi‑Fi.
Design and authorisation work is expected to be completed by 2028, construction to start in 2029, and the hub to be commissioned by June 2030. Cotral president Manolo Cipolla said, “With the signing of this protocol we take a concrete step toward the revitalisation of the Viterbo interchange.”
