Cotronei councilors propose free school services for disabled students

In Cotronei, members of the minority council have formally requested the introduction of free school canteen and bus services for students with severe disabilities. The proposal, submitted by councilors Antonio Bevilacqua, Pier Luigi Benincasa, Elisabetta Fragale, Vincenzo Girimonte, and Salvatore Chimento, seeks to amend the municipal regulations for school services.

Currently, exemptions and payment tiers are determined by the family's ISEE (Equivalent Economic Situation Indicator). The proponents argue that this income-based criterion does not provide sufficient protection for families with children facing severe disabilities. They are calling for a 100% exemption from fees for students holding disability certification under Article 3, Paragraph 3 of Law 104/1992, regardless of economic status, to ensure greater inclusion and access to education.
