Cottbus hosts reading summer finale and animal shelter funding event

The Brandenburg Reading Summer 2026 is concluding in Cottbus with a closing event at the Spree Galerie Cottbus. The program features an interactive reading by children's book author and theater director Boris Pfeiffer, who will present stories from the ‘Die drei ??? Kids’ series followed by a book signing. Participants of the reading club who collected at least three stamps in their logbooks will receive certificates during the celebration.

In separate regional news, Brandenburg Minister President Dietmar Woidke and Minister for Agriculture and Environment Hanka Mittelstädt visited the Cottbus animal shelter. During the visit, they presented a symbolic check for approximately 50,000 euros from lottery funds to the Cottbus Animal Welfare Association. The donation is intended to support the facility, which accommodates up to 90 dogs and 300 cats, in addressing its ongoing operational challenges.
