Cotton Corp of India celebrates foundation day, unveils farmer support

The Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) marked its 56th Foundation Day on August 2 in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra, with Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh and senior state officials. The ceremony launched the five‑year, ₹5,659 crore Kapas Kanti mission, introduced the Kasturi Cotton Bharat branding scheme, and saw four MoUs signed to strengthen the cotton ecosystem.

Minister Singh highlighted CCI’s record MSP procurement of over 522 lakh quintals of seed cotton through nearly 24 lakh farmer transactions and the direct transfer of ₹41,530 crore to farmers’ Aadhaar‑linked accounts. He announced a roughly 7 % increase in the Minimum Support Price for seed cotton for the 2026‑27 season, aiming to boost income security for cotton growers across India.
