Council of Australian Tour Operators announces 2026 Christmas Lunch

The Council of Australian Tour Operators (CATO) has announced details for its 2026 Travel Industry Christmas Lunch, scheduled for 3 December in Sydney. The event, themed ‘Sparkle & Shine’, will be held at Le Montage in Lilyfield and is expected to host over 500 travel professionals.

This marks the first such event since CATO integrated into the Australian Travel Industry Association (ATIA) earlier this year. In a departure from traditional guest speakers, the lunch will feature a centerpiece panel titled ‘Tales from the Road’. This panel will consist of tour guides sharing unexpected and humorous behind-the-scenes stories from their travels.

CATO is currently inviting tour operators to nominate storytellers for the panel. Candidates must submit a 60-second video detailing their identity, company, and why they can entertain a large audience. Selected guides will receive a complimentary event ticket but are responsible for their own travel and accommodation costs.
