Council of Economic Advisers: DSA policies could cost $350,000 per household
A report released by the Council of Economic Advisers predicts that adopting the top policies of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) could result in a net fiscal burden of over $350,000 per American household over the next decade. The report estimates a total net cost of more than $49 trillion between 2027 and 2036, a figure exceeding the current national debt.
The largest projected expense is Medicare for All, estimated to cost $47.4 trillion, even after accounting for $3.9 trillion in projected revenue from a wealth tax. Other significant costs identified in the report include $3.6 trillion for canceling student debt and providing free college, and approximately $918 billion in lost tax revenue due to a mandated 32-hour workweek.
Additional agenda items analyzed in the report include loosening border restrictions, granting amnesty to illegal immigrants, and abolishing the police and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
