Council of State confirms Eugenio Facciolla as Castrovillari prosecutor

The Council of State has upheld a previous ruling by the Lazio TAR, confirming magistrate Eugenio Facciolla in his role as Prosecutor of Castrovillari. This decision overturns a prior resolution by the High Council of the Judiciary (CSM) that had denied his confirmation.

The CSM had originally denied the confirmation based on alleged lack of independence and balance, citing criminal and disciplinary conduct. However, the Council of State noted that Facciolla was acquitted by the Court of Salerno in July 2025 of corruption and forgery charges. The judges ruled that the CSM's administrative decision was in conflict with material reality, as the underlying facts used to justify the denial were not confirmed.
