Count Binface runs in Clacton by‑Election

Comedian Jonathan David Harvey will appear on the ballot in the Clacton parliamentary by‑election on 13 August under the name Count Binface, a fictional intergalactic warrior dressed in a space suit and a trash‑bin helmet. The independent candidate entered the race after Reform UK MP Nigel Farage resigned, triggering the election.

In his platform, Binface proposes a series of tongue‑in‑cheek policies, such as nationalising singer Adele, banning loud mobile‑phone use on public transport, building at least one affordable home, limiting the price of a 99 Flake ice‑cream to 99 pence, and other whimsical ideas. He famously tells voters, “I’m not Nigel Farage.” While the main parties have largely boycotted the vote, Binface secured 96 votes in a previous contest, placing seventh out of fourteen candidates.
