Counter-Strike 2 cases and multiplayer case battles
Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) cases are in-game containers used to obtain weapon skins. To open a case, players must use a matching key to receive one item from a fixed list of possibilities. While common items appear frequently, rare items such as knives or gloves have a much lower probability of being drawn.
Beyond official gameplay, third-party trading sites offer a community feature known as case battles. In this multiplayer format, several players contribute funds to open the same set of cases simultaneously. The winner is typically determined by comparing the total value of the items each participant receives, though some alternative modes may use different rules, such as reversed goals or team-based scoring.
Players can acquire cases through gameplay drops or via the Steam Market. Once an item is obtained from a case, it is added to the player's inventory, often subject to a short trade lock before it can be sold or exchanged.
