Country music stars find success outside of Nashville

While Nashville is traditionally considered essential for success in the country music industry due to its informal, relationship-based business environment, several prominent artists have maintained successful careers while living elsewhere.

George Strait, often referred to as the ‘King of Country’, is a notable example of an artist who has not lived in Nashville full time. Other artists, such as Scotty McCreery, have utilized social media and the internet to navigate the industry from their home state of North Carolina.

However, leaving the music hub can have professional consequences. Justin Moore noted that moving his family back to Arkansas impacted his career regarding awards and tours, though he prioritized his family over industry presence.
