Countrywide Surveying Services qualifies 35 surveyors in 2026
Countrywide Surveying Services (CSS) has qualified 35 surveyors through its training academy so far in 2026, following the addition of six newly qualified professionals in the past month. The company currently has 13 additional trainees working toward qualification.
The recruitment comes amid industry-wide concerns regarding the surveying workforce. According to the Skyline 2026 Survey of Surveyors, 46% of respondents do not expect to remain in the profession beyond the next decade. The data also indicates an aging workforce, with 62% of respondents aged over 50 and fewer than 16% under the age of 40.
CSS Managing Director Matthew Cumber noted that while attracting new talent is vital, the industry must focus on creating long-term career paths. He emphasized the importance of transferring the professional judgment of departing experienced surveyors to the next generation, especially as the role evolves to include more technology, data, and complex property risks.
