County Durham launches new youth support hub

Durham County Council has launched ‘Next Chapter’, a Young Futures Hub located at the Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre. The initiative is part of a government-backed pilot programme designed to provide children and young people with improved access to support services, skill development, and wellbeing activities.

Open to individuals aged ten to 18, and up to 25 for those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), the hub offers various sessions including arts and crafts, sports, volunteering, and social events. The facility serves as a space for relaxation, socialising, and accessing guidance from trusted adults.

The wider government programme has allocated £2 million to pilot areas for facility development, alongside £4 million from the Local Youth Transformation Fund to support youth services. Following the launch of this hub, Durham County Council has also been selected to establish a second Young Futures Hub.
