Coupang and OpenAI co-host AI Grand Prix hackathon in Singapore

Coupang and OpenAI co-hosted the AI Grand Prix Singapore 2026, an overnight hackathon held from October 24 to 25 at the Carousell Campus. The event brought together 60 participants, selected from 150 applicants, to solve various technical challenges using OpenAI Codex.

Unlike traditional hackathons, this competition featured a multi-challenge format. Participants engaged in ‘Game Hack’ to develop AI-powered games, ‘Spot the Mismatch’ to identify discrepancies in AI-generated product data, and a ‘Group Hack’ where 14 teams created AI-driven shopping experiences.

Kay Hng Quek secured the top prize, receiving a Champion’s Builder Kit for demonstrating consistent problem-solving skills across the different technical tasks.
