Coupang launches industry-first furniture damage and warranty insurance

Coupang has expanded its ‘Coupang Care’ insurance service to include the furniture category, introducing industry-first free warranties and damage insurance. The service aims to address customer concerns regarding furniture damage and quality issues following a purchase.

The insurance covers repair costs for furniture damaged by external impacts, such as bed or sofa frames, and provides coverage for functional defects like wardrobe hinges or drawer rails even after the manufacturer's warranty expires. Coverage lasts up to three years from the delivery date.

Customers can select compensation limits ranging from 100,000 KRW to 5,000,000 KRW. For a 1,000,000 KRW limit, premiums are approximately 45,000 KRW for two years or 60,000 KRW for three years. Claims can be processed via the Lotte Insurance app, with repairs handled by official manufacturer service centers or partners. Currently, the service includes major brands such as Illoom, Casamia, Hanssem, Desker, and Sidiz.
