Couple arrested after stealing TV and crashing through motel gate in Brazil
A man and a woman were arrested in Curitiba after stealing a television from a motel in São José dos Pinhais. The suspects reportedly entered the establishment as customers but fled at high speed, using a vehicle to smash through the motel's exit gate.
Police identified the vehicle used in the escape, a Volkswagen Gol, as having a theft report registered in the state of Santa Catarina. Authorities believe the theft and the destructive escape may have been an attempt to avoid paying for the stay.
Officers located the suspects in Curitiba later that afternoon. Although the couple had already sold the stolen television, police managed to recover the device and return it to the motel owner. The suspects were taken into custody and transferred to the Central de Flagrantes for legal proceedings.
