The award-winning Bahian short film ‘Couraça’, directed by Susan Kalik and Daniel Arcades, is set to premiere on Canal Brasil.
Filmed in Bahia, the production follows the journey of two ‘cangaceiros’ as they escort a pregnant woman back to her family through the sertão. The narrative is set in the historical context of the region following the end of the ‘cangaço’ cycle.
The film has received several accolades at the Festival de Brasília do Cinema Brasileiro, including the Canal Brasil Award, the Audience Award for Best Film, and a Best Actress award for Laís Machado. The production is a co-production involving Têm Dendê Produções, DAN – Território de Criação, and Rec Produtores.
