Coursera and UAB offer free psychological first aid course

Coursera and the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) have released a free course titled ‘Psychological First Aid for Natural Disasters.’ The initiative is aimed at supporting communities, families, volunteers, and first responders following recent earthquakes in Venezuela and Colombia.

Developed in collaboration with the Barcelona Crisis Unit, the course teaches basic emotional support techniques designed to reduce the initial psychological impact of emergencies and facilitate recovery. The curriculum includes specific protocols for assisting children, adolescents, the elderly, and people with disabilities. This condensed, mobile-friendly video version is part of a series of emergency releases by UAB, following previous efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic and the DANA floods in Spain.
