Court allows prosecution of alleged domestic violence offender
A court has granted a second chance to prosecute a man accused of breaching an apprehended domestic violence order (ADVO). The order, originally issued in October 2023, was set to remain in force until October 2025 and prohibited the man from stalking, harassing, or intimidating his former partner.
Allegations state that between August 31 and September 13, the man called his ex-partner 61 times, sent flowers, and made small bank deposits to initiate contact. Following a period spent together, an argument occurred on September 18, during which the man allegedly became aggressive and threatened to ‘make her life hell.’
The matter came to light after police stopped the pair during a traffic stop while the man was driving the woman back to Orange. During police interviews, the man claimed his frequent contact was due to concerns for the woman’s well-being.
