Court of Arbitration for Sport rules on Senegal football disputes

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has issued two significant rulings involving the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF).

Regarding the AFCON 2025 title, CAS has scheduled a hearing for October 8 to address Senegal’s appeal against the Confederation of African Football (CAF). The dispute stems from the January final in Rabat, where CAF overturned Senegal’s 1-0 victory and awarded Morocco a 3-0 win after Senegalese players walked off the pitch in protest. The FSF is seeking to have the forfeiture decision set aside and to be declared the official winners of the tournament.

In a separate matter, CAS has referred Mady Touré’s appeal regarding the 2025 FSF presidential election back to the federation’s Electoral Appeals Commission. Touré, an unsuccessful candidate, had challenged the election of Abdoulaye Fall, citing irregularities in the voting process. CAS ruled that the commission had wrongly declared Touré’s appeal inadmissible and must now re-examine the merits of his case without altering the current election results at this stage.
