Court staffer attempts suicide in Virudhunagar citing work pressure

A 27-year-old office assistant at the Sattur No. 2 Judicial Magistrate Court in Virudhunagar allegedly attempted suicide by consuming pesticide on court premises. The woman, identified as Selveeswari, reportedly cited severe work pressure and mental distress as the cause.

According to police sources, Selveeswari claimed that in addition to her regular court duties, she was required to perform household chores at the judge’s residence. After consuming the poison, she informed colleagues and was rushed to a private hospital, where she is currently undergoing intensive treatment. Sattur Town police have registered a case and are conducting an inquiry into the incident.
