Courteney Cox expresses interest in directing Scream 8

Actress Courteney Cox has expressed interest in directing the upcoming installment of the horror franchise, ‘Scream 8’. During an interview with Deadline at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), Cox suggested she would be well-suited to lead the production due to her long history with the series.

Cox has portrayed the investigative reporter Gale Weathers in all seven previous films, making her the only original cast member to appear in every installment. She noted, “I think I should, honestly. No one knows more about that film than I do,” while also acknowledging the contributions of the franchise's creator, writers, and the late director Wes Craven.

Cox mentioned that taking the director's chair would be “fantastic and fun” and could serve as a strong promotional tool for the franchise. Currently, she is promoting her directorial work on ‘Evil Genius’, a true-crime film regarding the ‘Pizza Bomber’ case, starring Patricia Arquette and David Harbour.
