Courteney Cox expresses interest in directing Scream 8

Courteney Cox, who has portrayed Gale Weathers since the franchise's inception, has expressed interest in directing the upcoming Scream 8. Speaking at the Toronto International Film Festival while promoting her film Evil Genius, Cox suggested that her deep knowledge of the series would make her a strong candidate for the role.

While Paramount has not officially designated a director, the screenplay for the eighth installment has been assigned to sisters Lilla and Nora Zuckerman. Cox noted that while she believes the move would be a positive marketing opportunity, any decision would involve consideration of the franchise's history, including the legacy of creator Wes Craven and the involvement of the original cast and writers.

The announcement follows the commercial success of Scream 7, which became the most profitable entry in the horror franchise.
