Courtney Love announces new album and reveals 2019 health crisis

Musician Courtney Love has announced that her long-awaited new solo album is complete. In a candid Instagram video, the 62-year-old singer revealed that she underwent a severe, private health crisis in 2019 following a move to England.

Love described the experience as her body “just exploding,” noting that she was frequently hospitalized, lost her hair, and dropped to approximately 100 pounds. While she did not disclose a specific diagnosis, she shared that doctors had warned her she was going to die. Love attributed her survival and refusal to accept that prognosis to a psychological resilience developed during her childhood.

The singer noted that she worked on the album while hospitalized, believing at the time it might be her final recording. She expressed a strong desire to return to touring and thanked collaborators including Billie Joe Armstrong for their contributions to the project.
