Courts in Mali and Guinea issue prison sentences in separate criminal cases

In Mali, the Bamako Court of Appeal has sentenced Mohamed Youssouf Bathily, known as Ras Bath, and Rokiatou Doumbia, known as Rose Vie chère, to 10 years in prison. The sentence includes three years suspended. Both individuals were also ordered to pay a fine of 240,000 CFA francs each.

In Guinea, the Court of First Instance in Mamou sentenced driver Mamadou Saliou Diallo to five years in prison following a fatal traffic accident in Diarabaka that resulted in 16 deaths. Diallo was found guilty of involuntary homicide, involuntary assault and battery, and destruction of private property. The court also imposed a 10 million Guinean franc fine and a five-year driver's license suspension. The court ordered that the involved semi-trailer truck remain held until victims' families are fully compensated by insurance.
