Courts in Peru and Chile issue sentences for sexual abuse and violent robbery

In Peru, the Superior Criminal Prosecutor's Office of Chincha, based in Ica, has secured a life sentence for a man identified as D. Aquije H. for the systematic sexual abuse of his underage niece. The crimes occurred in the Parcona district, beginning in October 2022. The court ruled that the perpetrator exploited the victim's sleeping hours and the lack of doors or windows in the residence. The defendant will serve his sentence at the Cristo Rey de Cachiche Penitentiary and is ordered to pay 10,000 soles in civil reparations.

In Chile, the Oral Criminal Court of Arica sentenced K. P. M. F. to five years and one day of effective imprisonment for a violent robbery committed in May 2023. The incident involved an attack on a victim outside the Juan Pablo II School, where the perpetrator and three accomplices—who were adolescents at the time—assaulted the victim and stole a skateboard valued at $120,000. The three accomplices received three years of special assisted liberty, while the primary defendant also faces permanent disqualification from holding public office and exercising professional titles during his sentence.
