Courts issue rulings on public service reinstatement and military archive access
In the Dominican Republic, the Supreme Court of Justice has upheld a ruling ordering the General Directorate of Public Procurement (DGCP) to reinstate Rosa Euris Ramírez Feliz de Cuello as a career public servant. The court rejected the DGCP's appeal, confirming that the agency must also pay Ramírez Feliz de Cuello over RD$2.9 million in unpaid salaries and benefits accrued since her dismissal in March 2024.
In Mexico, a collegiate administrative tribunal has ordered the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena) to release previously undisclosed military archives related to the ‘Dirty War’ period. The ruling, granted via an injunction to Alicia de los Ríos Merino, seeks to provide access to documentation regarding disappeared activists. The court also mandated the creation of a commission to review, catalog, and determine the appropriate handling of these historical documents.
