Courts rule on separate criminal cases in Senegal and Guinea
In separate legal proceedings, courts in Senegal and Guinea have reached decisions regarding criminal charges against two individuals.
A 22-year-old mechanic, A. Diallo, was acquitted by the Pikine-Guédiawaye court following allegations of corruption and the presumed misappropriation of a minor. The case originated from a complaint involving sequestration and rape. However, during the hearing, the woman involved testified that she was 18 years old and that their relationship was consensual. The court noted the absence of official documentation to prove her minority, leading to the acquittal.
In Guinea, Balla Kandé appeared before the Dixinn Court of First Instance facing charges of abuse of trust. Kandé admitted to pawning two vehicles belonging to Mamadou Alpha Diallo to fund a construction project after losing previously entrusted money. Although the victim provided a letter of pardon, the public prosecutor argued that a sanction was still necessary. The prosecution requested a six-month suspended prison sentence and a fine of one million Guinean francs.
