Coventry City leads race to sign Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk

Coventry City has emerged as the frontrunner to sign Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk on a loan deal. Chelsea reportedly believes that regular playing time is essential for the 25-year-old Ukrainian to rebuild his rhythm and confidence.

Mudryk has not played an official match since November 2024 following a suspension related to meldonium. While his ban was reduced through an agreement involving the FA and the World Anti-Doping Agency, Chelsea staff believe he will not receive sufficient minutes at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea intends to keep the player as part of their long-term plans, making a one-year loan without an option to buy the preferred arrangement. Coventry manager Frank Lampard, who has previously worked with Mudryk, is expected to play a key role in the move as the club seeks to strengthen its attack for its Premier League campaign. Although interest exists from clubs in Italy and France, Mudryk is said to prefer remaining in England.
