Coventry City readies for Premier League opener against Arsenal as rivals Ipswich and Hull reinforce squads

Coventry City will open their Premier League campaign against reigning champions Arsenal, marking the first top‑flight meeting between the clubs since February 2001 when Arsenal won 1‑0 at Highfield Road.

Coventry's transfer activity this summer has been modest, with only winger Loum Tchaouna, centre‑back Aurele Amenda and a permanent contract for midfielder Frank Onyeka confirmed. In contrast, promotion rivals Ipswich Town and Hull City have been active in the market, with Ipswich finalising a deal for Japanese forward Daizen Maeda and pursuing goalkeeper Kjell Scherpen, while Hull have arranged a medical for goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis.
