Cover Corp CEO Motoaki Tanigo reports X account takeover

Motoaki Tanigo, CEO of Cover Corp—the company behind the VTuber group Hololive—reported that his X (formerly Twitter) account was compromised on August 14.

During the takeover, the unauthorized user posted content appearing to mimic Tanigo's views on virtual idols, utilizing the hashtag ‘#きらめくほしまち’ associated with Suisei Hoshimachi's live performances. The fraudulent posts included links designed to redirect users toward cryptocurrency scams.

Tanigo confirmed on August 15 that the account has been recovered and appropriate measures have been taken to secure it.
