Cover Corp reaches settlement with minor over false VTuber information

Cover Corp, the operator of Hololive Production, announced on October 28 that it has reached a settlement with a minor who posted false information regarding the personal details of its VTuber talents.

A court previously recognized the posts as an infringement of rights, leading the company to identify the individual through a disclosure request for sender information. The settlement terms include the deletion of the posts, the submission of a formal apology, the payment of damages, and a commitment to refrain from future rights infringements. If these terms are violated, a penalty fee will be applied.

Because the individual is a minor, their legal guardian has promised to pay the damages and oversee the individual's future conduct. Cover Corp emphasized that regardless of whether information about a talent's private life is true or false, spreading such information or engaging in speculation can constitute a violation of rights. The company also warned that reposting infringing content can lead to legal liability.
