Cover-More Travel Insurance becomes ATIA Strategic Partner

Cover-More Travel Insurance has entered into a multi-faceted partnership with the Australian Travel Industry Association (ATIA). The company will serve as a Strategic Partner, a Beyond Borders Engagement Partner, and a Gold Sponsor for the National Travel Industry Awards (NTIA).

In addition to this commercial partnership, Cover-More has been a key advocate alongside the ATIA regarding the deferred sales model. This regulation governs how and when add-on insurance can be sold to consumers. A Treasury proposal has suggested extending the current exemption—which allows travel advisors to sell insurance at the point of booking rather than after a cooling-off period—for an additional five years. This extension would move the expiration date from October 5, 2026, to October 5, 2031. Both the ATIA and Cover-More have expressed support for this extension, noting it maintains a vital revenue stream for advisors and ensures travelers can secure coverage at the moment they commit to a trip.
