Cowboy Space leases large Kent facility for aerospace manufacturing

California-based aerospace and advanced manufacturing firm Cowboy Space has leased a 291,035-square-foot industrial facility in Kent, Washington. The company plans to convert a former Costco warehouse into a specialized manufacturing operation to support space and rocket development.

Cowboy Space aims to address the energy and infrastructure demands of artificial intelligence by developing solar-powered orbital data centers. This project, known as the Stampede Constellation, will consist of megawatt-class GPU data centers in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) that utilize abundant solar power to bypass Earth-based constraints regarding power grids, land, water, and cooling.

The company intends to launch its own rockets into LEO starting as early as 2028. The expansion into the Puget Sound region is expected to create approximately 300 new jobs.
