New Orleans Saints defeat Dallas Cowboys 27-24 in preseason finale

The New Orleans Saints concluded their preseason with a 27-24 victory over the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium. The Saints secured the win late in the fourth quarter via a 53-yard field goal from Daniel Carlson. New Orleans relied heavily on their rushing attack, totaling 169 yards, with contributions from Barion Brown, Audric Estime, and Zamir White. Spencer Rattler and Zach Wilson both saw action at quarterback, as the Saints continue to evaluate their backup position.

The Dallas Cowboys, who entered the game undefeated in the preseason, were unable to hold their lead after a late surge by the Saints. While Sam Howell threw two touchdown passes to help Dallas erase a 15-point deficit, the Cowboys ultimately fell short. The game also saw injury concerns for Dallas, as outside linebacker Marist Liufau suffered a broken forearm and is expected to miss several weeks.

Both teams head into the regular season with unresolved questions regarding their backup quarterbacks. The Saints will open their season against the Detroit Lions, while the Cowboys face the New York Giants.
