Cowichan Lake historical news highlights theft and garden relocation

A retrospective look at news from the Cowichan Lake area highlights a 2016 break-in at the Valley Fish and Game Club on Mayo Road. During the incident, unknown perpetrators stole food from freezers, a jerry can containing three-quarters of its gas, and various items intended for a children's fishing derby, including rods and tackle boxes. Wally Baas, the club's vice president, suggested the theft may have been committed by individuals struggling with drug addiction.

Additionally, the Cowichan Lake Community Garden faced relocation due to planned upgrades at Centennial Park. In response, members of the Lake Cowichan Slo-pitch League, including president Ryan Rai, offered volunteer assistance to help move the garden to its new location.
