Athletes from the Cowichan Valley region, representing Zone 1, saw significant success, with notable gold medalists in golf, five-pin bowling, and archery. Additionally, Sheila King from Nanaimo secured gold in the 75-plus women’s 8-ball division.

In separate sporting news, fighters from the Kelowna-based Madkatz Boxing club achieved success at the Bronze Gloves competition and Boxing BC Provincials in Chilliwack. Head coach Geoff Lawrence reported that several fighters earned medals, while provincial competitors Camille Walker and Nisha Gnanasingarajan reached the finals, potentially earning opportunities to represent the province at the national level.
