Cox Energy president calls for stronger Latin American power grids

Enrique Riquelme, president and founder of Cox Energy, has called for the strengthening of electrical grids across Latin America and the Caribbean during the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Speaking at a business forum co-organized by the Business Council for Ibero-America (CEAPI) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Riquelme emphasized that the expansion of data centers, artificial intelligence, and electric mobility will require significantly higher energy capacity and grid quality. He advocated for the development of modern, flexible, and interconnected networks to facilitate an effective energy transition.

Riquelme also warned that current global geopolitical uncertainty and volatility are hindering investment and the ability of governments to fund critical infrastructure. He noted that stability in energy and water sectors is essential for productivity, digitalization, industrialization, and social stability.
