Cox establishes Americas regional headquarters in Panama
Spanish multinational Cox has established its regional headquarters for the Americas in Panama. The company, which operates in the water and energy sectors, manages an investment plan exceeding $7 billion in regional projects. While global corporate direction remains in Spain, Panama will host the Asset Co, responsible for developing and managing major investments across the Americas.
Cox has recently expanded its footprint in the region, including a desalination plant project in Mexico, wind energy contracts in Panama, renewable energy projects in Guatemala, and electrical transmission concessions in Brazil. The move is intended to bring operations closer to regional markets, financial partners, and institutions.
In a separate development, a commercial mission led by Panama’s Minister of Commerce and Industries, Julio Moltó, has identified significant interest from Spanish companies in utilizing Panama as a logistics hub. Following the II Panama Investment Forum 2026 in Madrid, several Spanish firms are evaluating the establishment of distribution centers in Panama to serve Central American and Caribbean markets, leveraging the country’s ports, Canal, and special investment regimes.
